Recognized by his peers such as Stanley Jordan and Kazuhito Yamashita as a unique Art music performer, Ángel Blanco has given his attention to new creations for different types of guitars and media as well as advocating for active research on seldom performed works and theories from past masters such as the maverick composers Julian Carrillo and Augusto Novaro, as well as an approach for unorthodox performance techniques and composition methods such as Plectrodedo and Sonido 13.
Angel Blanco has been invited to participate in both, prestigious Halls and Universities around the world - such as Palacio de Bellas Artes in Mexico City, Tchaikovsky Moscow State Conservatory in Russia and the Pontifical Catholic University of Peru- and to off the beaten path of classical performers such as Haiti, Nigeria and rural communities in inner Mexico and Canada, an activity that he considers essential for his legacy to benefit the population.
He has been recipient of different grants and prizes such as the Mexican Federal grant COINVERSIONES CULTURALES in 2012 and the prestigious PRODUCCION MUSICAL grant from the Government of Nuevo Leon, Mexico in 2007 -with which he produced his debut album RARAS - and recently, the Music Promotion Fund prize from the Canadian Federation of Musicians.
He has world-premiered either in studio, live or both different works by contemporary composers and from the classics such as Blas Galindo, Jose Vasquez and Julian Carrillo.
Blanco is a graduate of Bishop's University and holds a Masters in Performance, a Graduate Diploma and the prestigious Graduate Artist Diploma from McGill University- the uppermost Diploma of that University.
Angel Blanco is a proud Union member of the American Federation of Musicians of the US & Canada.
