ÁNGEL BLANCO
Creator/Performer
Born in Monterrey, Mexico in 1978, guitar virtuoso, scholar, impresario, music technology enthusiast and philanthropist Angel Blanco -previously known as Angelos Quetzalcoatl - is a graduate of Bishop's University and holds a Masters in Music Degree, Graduate Diploma and the prestigious Graduate Artist Diploma from the world-renowned McGill University.
Angel Blanco's unique act and off-the-wall stage persona has evolved into a particular "new brand" of art music guitar creator/performer due his extremely virtuosic yet out-of-the-box techniques he espouses such as touch-style polyphonic/percussive tapping and Carlos Reyes' plectrodedo. He has been lauded by respected composers such as Johnny Reinhard and Halim El-Dabh, and by his peers (and his youth idols) guitar virtuosi Stanley Jordan and Kazuhito Yamashita.
Angel Blanco has performed vastly in the Americas, having had engagements in prominent places and festivals such as the Universal Forum of Cultures in Monterrey, the Palace of Fine Arts in Mexico City, the Pontifical Catholic University of Peru, the Museum of Fine Arts in Cuba, the Spectrum Salle in New York City and recently being invited to perform at the Tchaikovsky Conservatory of Music in Moscow, Russia.
Currently Angel Blanco is teaming up with composer/producer Raul Gonzalez Guzman and Grammy-Awarded recording engineer Welito Gonzalez to prepare his third studio album, RESURFACE, which will contain world-premiere performances of pieces by Julian Carrillo, Augusto Novaro, Alois Haba, Blas Galindo, Hebert Vazquez among others.
Blanco is a proud member of both, the CD Baby Community and of the American Federation of Musicians of the US and Canada. He cites that his main influences rank from iconoclastic classical masters such as Niccolo Paganini and Yma Sumac to 1980's megastars such as Yngwie Malmsteen, Luis Miguel, Madonna and Michael Jackson.
